It is summer,
a time in which each thing
blooms and prospers
in its own time,
unfolding from its own wisdom,
emerging from its own knowing,
trusting its own pace,
following its own map,
yearning toward
the light of growth and change.
May we, too,
heed this truth of summer:
open up,
welcome the opportunity
to flourish and grow.

Life’s Bits and Pieces:
In summer,
we feel the heat of transformation
seep into us,
the call to choose and to change.
It is from here
that we construct a vision
of how our lives could be
and take action
to bring dreams into being.
Reading:
to self: Time Anxiety. I’ve taken a bit of a break from this one as I’ve become absorbed in my new pick below.
to self: Little Thieves. YA dark fairy tale loosely based on The Goose Girl as well as Scandanavian mythology. Impulse selection from the display table at the library. Very long and very good! Really enjoying it a lot. Light on romance (though there is a slow-burn frenemy love story simmering) and heavy on intrigue and dirty dealing. About a girl who was given to Death and Fortune as a four year old and who now impersonates the princess in a high stakes, risky game of robbery, double-crossing, and not-marrying-the evil prince.
to self: She Appears: Encounters with Kwan Yin, Goddess of Compassion. I’ve had this book for several years without even cracking it open. Since July is our month of Kuan Yin, now is the time. It is so good and I’m flying through it. It is a really unusual and visually appealing mix of beautiful full-color art and personal stories and experiences from all kinds of different people.
to kids: Death Weavers. Book four in the Five Kingdoms series.
Looking forward to:
more fun at summer reading programs at the library! I’ll keep you posted on the puzzle tournament. ;)
making more progress on my new book, Return. It is actually coming together! I’ve moved past the bubbling and the collating and into the editing. I’m now cumbersomely navigating 280 pages of potential content and shaping it into form.
Mark’s birthday! We are planning to head to the river.
Making big and mini Galaxy goddesses in the future.
Adjusting to:
staff changes in the shop and changing/adding duties.
A to-do list from the soul for summer:
Starlight Dreams and Persistent Action
Reminder: Let us lean in to transformation and to learning. Let us navigate life’s challenges with grace and resilience. Let us be persistent and discerning. Let us claim our power and our magic. Let us root our dreams in practical actions. Let us embrace complexity and maintain courage while navigating life's mysterious journey.
Note: expanded edition with practices and printable companion cards is here.
Journal questions to consider:
How am I persisting? What am I protecting?
Where am I journeying?
Where am I seeking guidance?
What do I aspire to? What magical dreams am I nurturing?
What parts of my life need releasing?
How do I navigate challenges with patience and power?
How can I ground my aspirations? (How can I plant my dreams in nurturing soil?)
Affirmations for the week:
I stake my claim.
I protect and persist.
I navigate my life with patience and power.
I know the magic of going the distance.
I am courageous enough to hope.
I release what I no longer need.
I honor my own sacred space within.
Gather what you've learned about you.
Turn your face toward home.
Pause to let the lessons
of your journey soak into you.
Rest your hands against your heart
and listen well.
Let it tell you of what you need to thrive.
Resolve to keep listening.
Promise to let your life be easier,
to hold you with gentleness and grace.
Honor how pushing has been an ally,
but now it is time to rest.
Open your hands to the wind.
Let yourself be soft.
Create your life and days from here,
this welcoming place
of renewal and return.
Much love,
Molly, Mark, + Family
