Springtime Transformation

Of shedding and leaping. This week's ritual video and news updates.

And, so,
we arrive into spring
with open hearts and hopeful eyes.
The first buds glow pink
on the magnolia trees
and the wild plums bordering
the fence rows
are at the edge of blooming.
Blades of iris stretch
through cold earth
and the lilacs begin to leaf
and reach.
A chill arrives to kiss the morning,
reminding us not to leap too far too fast,
tempering our zeal with discernment
and reminding us
that progress requires
both patience and perseverance.
We may feel weary with changes
or eager for them
or both at once.
Here we are at the threshold,
choosing to grow.

Happy Spring! I hope you are enjoying a gentle leap into a new season with space to listen, space to soar, and space to stick your hands in the dirt and feel. This newsletter will again be a little shorter than usual with only a brief audio edition as we have a full day on Friday, leaving at 5:00 in the morning for a campus orientation visit with our oldest son. Our shop update today is another eclectic one, featuring some amazing OOAK floral goddesses with cute cat and plant charms, and some wonderful new minis.

This week's magic:

Resource Reminders:

Life’s Bits and Pieces:

  • Thinking about:

    • this quote and post from Shiloh Sophia (Artist Shiloh Sophia): “Surviving times of absolute power requires a focus on absolute beauty. Beauty will be found every time you look for it, but you need to decide to look. I am.” Keep looking for, and creating, beauty.

    • what to change or reduce in terms of what I offer.

    • looking forward to getting a peek at Lann’s new campus and new apartment.

    • showing up and what a powerful magic it is.

  • Reading:

    • to self: Stone Blind. I got this from the goddess books display section at the local library, where they also had a fabulous assortment of free goddess bookmarks at the front desk (as part of Women’s History Month). It is really good. I’m totally gobbling it up. It is about Medusa and her childhood and development. I appreciate that it is not graphic in terms of the various assaults and abuses perpetuated by the gods, without shying away from them. I also love how wryly mean and sarcastic it is about Perseus, the supposed “hero” who sneaks up on a sleeping, cursed, and victimized girl and cuts her head off and yet SHE is the one painted as the “monster.” Lots and lots of different narrative points of view and characters and re-tellings of familiar tales from new perspectives (including that of the snakes on Medusa’s head and what they think/feel/notice).

    • to kids: Rogue Knight. Book two in the Five Kingdoms series. About a boy who follows his kidnapped friends into another world and has to adjust to a strange, unstable place in which there are different forms and types of magic. Makes new friends. Gains new resources. Quests for his lost friends and helps others along the way.

    • still listening to: One Poison Pie.

Blog Posts:

Spring Liberation and Transformation:

Reminder: Be intentional, courageous, and loving with yourself as you move through transitions and choose your path forward.

Journal prompts for the week:

  • Is there something you need to let go of?

  • What is changing for you when the wind comes?

  • What is calling to you, and how are you crossing the threshold?

Affirmations for this week:

  • I restore myself to wholeness.

  • I liberate myself to choose.

  • I liberate myself to explore the depths.

  • I keep my promises to myself.

  • I reach towards the sacred.

With hands on my heart,
I bless myself:
clarity in my thoughts,
peace in my spirit,
trust in my path.
I am the keeper of my own magic,
rooted on the earth,
reaching toward the sky,
restored,
renewed,
transformed.

Much love,

Molly, Mark, + Family
